Words from the Village

Every stay leaves a trace. These reflections offer a glimpse into the moments that matter most to our guests.

The Loft was a perfect blend of comfort and character. I loved the thoughtful touches, the peaceful surroundings, and the sense of history woven into the land. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the moment.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt curated with care. The views were stunning, the space was warm and inviting, and the quiet was just what we needed. Judge & Jury offers a rare kind of escape, one that stays with you long after you’ve left.

From the thoughtful design to the peaceful surroundings, Judge & Jury delivers something rare. It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place to feel grounded, inspired, and well cared for. Every detail felt intentional, and the whole experience was quietly unforgettable.

The Village

Under new ownership since late 2025, Judge & Jury Village offers a secluded alpine escape across 140 acres of high country, where guests can explore historic landmarks and take in panoramic views of Coronet Peak, Ben Lomond, and the Nevis Bluff. Wiltshire sheep roam freely across the hills, and plans are underway to grow fresh, natural produce as part of a self-sustaining future.

In historic goldmining territory, just minutes from Arrowtown, Gibbston Valley, and Queenstown, the village is a place to relax, reconnect, and immerse yourself in the region’s rich heritage. Big things are on the horizon: two traditional log cabins are currently in design, Woody’s Woodshed is under construction, and unique health treatments and wellness facilities are set to follow soon.

Behind the Name

The property draws its name from the storied Judge and Jury rock formation, landmarks steeped in visual symbolism, gold rush heritage, and the shaping of the surrounding landscape’s identity. Since the 1880s, these rocks have inspired local storytelling and defined the character of the region. Their name reflects their striking appearance: a commanding schist outcrop stands as the “judge,” flanked by a semicircle of smaller rocks that resemble a seated “jury.”

Built on Values, Shaped by Nature

We believe great stays are built on more than scenery. Judge & Jury is rooted in the landscapes of Gibbston Valley, but it’s powered by people, guests, hosts, and locals alike. Our mission is to create a space where nature meets comfort, and every visit leaves a legacy. From the trails to the table, we invite you to be part of something lasting.
